Online Talk for the Society of Jewellery Historians

Our director, Emma Rutherford recently gave a talk for the Society of Jewellery Historians, which is now available to view online for free here. In this talk, Emma examines jewelled frames and painted jewels in Tudor and Stuart portrait miniatures, including a miniature recently discovered by Emma to depict Lady Mary, later Queen Mary I (Compton Verney Collection). In the portrait, Mary wears a necklace that was likely given to her by her father, King Henry VIII, and was key to the sitter's identification.
